The Company’s primary focus is the sale of its medical alarm and safety alert devices, which are some of the most advanced systems on the market today. MediPendant™ is the Company’s premiere medical alarm product and the world’s first monitored two-way voice speakerphone pendant for the PERS (personal emergency response) industry. It is the only monitored medical alarm product on the market today that allows the user to speak and listen to the operator directly through the pendant.
Another unique advantage of the MediPendant™ is the ability of the call center operator to conference in any other needed or desired third party while the device wearer waits on the line for contact to be established with emergency first responders and/or family members and friends.
Medical Alarm Concepts’ alarm pendant also offers superior range radio frequency capabilities and an enhanced communication range that enable the user to move freely in and about the home, including up to an extended range that is revolutionary in the PERS industry. Specifically, the MediPendant™ system enables the device wearer to move up to 600+ feet away from the main base station, a distance that far exceeds competitive offerings on the market today that instead require the user to be within speaking distance of the base station box, a situation that may not be conducive to an emergency if the end user is not at the base station.
As part of the MediPendant™ product offering, users receive Medical Alarm Concepts’ patented two-way communication pendant, base station unit and a subscription to the Company’s around-the-clock personal response service hosted by LifeSafety Monitoring™. LifeSafety Monitoring™ (“LSM”) is the exclusive call center for the MediPendant™ medical alarm system and is also a division of Rapid Response monitoring, which was formed in 1992, and currently serves over 400,000 electronic security subscribers throughout the United States. Rapid Response has been an industry leader in monitoring technology for over 17 years.
Emergency calls made through the Company’s MediPendant™ device are always handled by emergency medical technician (“EMT”) certified operators who are available around the clock 24-hours a day and guaranteed to remain on the line with MediPendant™ subscribers until the problem is resolved and/or help arrives. Operators are trained to immediately access the situation and can either connect the caller to a loved-one or dispatch medical personnel to the user’s location. All emergency operators are prepared to bring calm, professional, knowledgeable insight to any situation. Additionally, the call center can also maintain an important list of personal information for all MediPendant™ users that includes an updated list of medications, health information and the subscriber’s contact information including home address for location and dispatch purposes. This personal information and medical history are securely stored by the monitoring center and can be provided to the dispatched authority and emergency responders as necessary.
How MediPendant™ Works
The MediPendant™ alarm pendent is worn around the neck or on the body of the device user.
Regarding the mechanics of how the MediPendant™ product works, the device is activated by the push of a button, upon which it automatically sends out a wireless digital signal to the home base station unit. Next, upon receipt of notification from the medical pendant, the Company’s base station unit this is connected directly to a standard home telephone line. Upon activation of the MediPendant, the base station dials the 24-hour call monitoring facility where operators are standing by to receive emergency calls from MediPendant™ subscribers.
Most MediPendant™ calls will be answered within seconds by highly trained monitoring professionals who are EMT certified. These professionals will respond to the alerts, talk to the users in need to assess the situation and, from there, provide the appropriate response where the proper assistance may include calling the police, fire department or an ambulance to respond to the situation, or calling family, friends or neighbors as part of the caller’s personal network.
MAC medical alarms are safe, convenient and can be worn by the user on the wrist, around the neck or on a belt so that it is always accessible and easy to reach. They are also water-resistant and thus may be worn in bath or shower. Battery operation provides up to six hours of talk time and up to one year of stand-by time.
TelePendant™
Medical Alarm Concepts also offers its TelePendant™ product line. Based on similar technology to the MediPendant,™ TelePendant™ does not direct emergency calls to a monitored call center. Rather, the TelePendant™ unit is programmable by the user to directly call a family member, friend, doctor’s office or even emergency services. TelePendant’s™ two-way voice speakerphone technology also has superior battery life and an enhanced mobility range enabling the user to communicate from virtually anywhere inside and outside the home.
